4Great Value, A Bit Under EngineeredApr 27, 2010
By Lionel R.
For the price, this light is a good buy. Great for tight quarters. And with colored lenses, can be used for a variety of purposes. The red lens for example is great for night illumination when you still need to see without a light; as it doesn't effect your night vision as bad as a bright beacon of white light might. It has three switch positions: off, flash, and on. In the flash position, there is a button that when depressed shines the light. Think pulse function on your blender. This is great for signalling or if you need illumination for a brief moment.

The build quality on this light is good for the price, but it feels a bit under engineered for rugged use. The plastic it is made from is a bit thin. While sturdy to the touch, I don't have complete confidence in it's being able to take whatever I throw at it. There is a clip on the back which is screwed right into the body with two screws; it hasn't happened and doesn't threaten to happen, but I get the hunch it might not take entirely too much for the clip to be ripped out.

This light is great for many circumstances and remains a great value, but I wouldn't condone this light for tactical or overly rugged use. It is small enough to throw in a glove box, tool box or trunk and is great to have on hand. It is well suited for camping, hunting, or just going into the crawl space of your house.

4Good for the priceMay 11, 2008
By Arrogant "AB"
This flashlight lasted me through basic training and AIT; this is the kind sold on military posts (~8 months; batteries ran out once i returned home). The colored lenses are useful for these kind of things (red light for light discipline; less visible). This can be useful outside of military for things like hunting and camping.

It is not nearly as powerful as a LED light, but its strong enough that you can read at night. It can take rain, but probably not total submersion into water for too long. For a plastic flashlight it is pretty durable.

Downsides: Its not bulky, but its not small either. Its about 12 inches in height and about 2 pounds with batteries.

Placed order and received it within ten days. No Problems. Flashlight works and no complaints. Arrived exactly as described no surprises. Even came with some colored lenses which the kids have a blast with at night and it holds up to their abuse. Good Product

1Not "c" cell flashlight but "d" instead w/ defective switchJun 02, 2013
By Pink Breadsticks
I am giving this one star because it is not what I ordered. I specifically ordered this because someone gave me a whole case of energizer c cell batteries that I wanted to find a use for. The item I received operates on 2 D Cell batteries. Please keep in mind when ordering that you might actually receive the d cell flashlight. But of course many prefer it, and it does look like the official military issue with several different colored lenses.

However, it is manufactured with the cheapest of plastic materials. Even the on/off switch is pathetic. It does not work because it was never actually connected properly. I give the makers credit though for using 2 real screws to secure the switch to the side of the light. But that is as far as they went. It is almost like a dummy light that was never intended for real use.

3MiniatureJan 17, 2013

Everything was good but it is about half the size as the normal one. I would guess it said that somewhere but it was not what I expected. Uses 2 C batteries. If you dont want the big heavy one that uses the Ds then this would be ideal. Seems like solid product.
