Heavy HelperAug 09, 2010

The Zilla Multitool is very heavy and large for the number of tools it has. I wanted something that I could keep on me that would have a pair of pliers, a knife and a screw driver. The three tools that I use the most at work. I thought about a Leatherman type of tool but I liked the fact that I didn't have to unfold the tool to use the pliers of the Zilla Multitool. The Zilla is too heavy to carry comfortable and too large to carry even on a belt loop. The driver bits are not secure enough in their holders on the tool to stay put when you carry it outside the pouch. The pliers are of good quality so I will keep this tool in my desk drawer but it is not the pocket tool I was looking for.

This tool performs as advertized!Apr 19, 2009

The full size Zilla Tool performs as advertized and is actually of excellent quality! It carries two standard bits, which no other multi tool does. It has a cool flipper knife that opens fast as lightning and the spring loaded pliers are ready to rock at the flip of the ambidextrous button (there is a release button on both sides of the tool). The tool is built like a tank and near impossible to break due to is its one piece construction, unlike most multi tools which are multi piece units. The pocket carry clip makes it very nice to have ready to use at moments notice. It also comes with a sheath if you prefer to use a sheath. This is not a delicate tool, just like the name says so don't expect it to be light as a feather at 7.4 ounces.
I have tested this tool rigorously and found it to be a beast. The blade is very sharp and deploys via flipper... what other multi tool can do that? The pliers have extra large teeth in the grip and can be used to turn nuts better than most pliers. The bit driver is strong enough to bend 1/4 inch bits and not break... so no worries there. The solid black Zilla Tool is more tactical looking of the two if that is your preference and the coating holds up incredibly well and resists scratching.
For further reviews go to [..] or just Google it. I have only seen good professional reviews of the Zilla Tool online or in magazines.

Handy and simple to useJul 22, 2011
By Webseitz When you work in IT, you really need the tools to be simple and functional - this one does it for me. Why? When I need a knife to open a box, I don't want to always use two hands - this one requires one finger and it clicks right open. If I want o use a pliers for those small jobs, this one doesn't flop all over the place when I take it out - one finger to lock and unlock it. Simple - effective - durable

Great core toolMar 22, 2010
By W. Taylor This multi-tool comes with only combination pliers/wire cutter, a 3" knife blade and two standard screwdriver bits, flathead and nr 2 phillips. My experience with other multitools has shown that those are the tools I use most often. But it is a lot heavier duty than the multitools with handles made from shaped sheet metal. I've had too many of them fail when I needed it. But this thing has been built much stronger.
It is the core of my belt toolkit. I have added a number of standard screwdriver bits both different heads (torx, square) different size phillips and flathead, and some 2" and 3" bits for added versatility. I have to carry these separately, but it's worthwhile. Simply adding something like this: 10 Piece Screwdriver Bit Set or this: Klein 32526 32-Piece Standard Tip Bit Set really multiplies the capabilities of your Zilla Mutitool. I found doing this was lots less expensive than buying a Leatherman with all the attachments, too.

Good, handy but not greatJan 05, 2010

For those not familiar with the tool, it has pliers, a fast opening liner lock blade, two bits, and a bit holder on the end of the tool. What it is not - one of the do all tools. It simply is not built with scissors, saws, etc. If that is what is desired, do not purchase this. What it is - a sturdy tool that gives one a set of pliers, knife, and screw driver. Plus these tools are fairly robust for hardy use. The one I have is well made, hefty in the hand ( I like that, others may not) tool. The pliers can be used to pry open as well as hold tight, a handy at times feature for me. The pliers are locked closed and mine have a tendency to spring open when not locked, handy for me as I do not have to manually pry them open. The blade is better than ones I have encountered on multi-tools (sturdy and able to get the blade where it is needed) and can be deployed regardless of the status of the pliers (open, closed, etc). There are holders for 2 bits and I keep a Phillips and a flat head although there is opportunity for other mixing and matching. The bit holder is tight but I would be wary of losing bits in a really heavy use scenario. On the flip side, bits are cheap these days and easily replaced. The tool has a belt or pocket clip. I do not trust the clip in such a large and heavy tool. I use the case that came with the tool and the case is well made. The case can be belt mounted vertically or horizontally. Also the case can be worked into MOLLE gear straps. In summary, I like this tool. It has specific uses but those uses tend to be the ones I need the most. I like the size and heft it has and frequently use the tool for chores around the house and yard.
